Our Story

Born from the Sacred, Built for the Earth

Visharjan began with a simple question: what happens to the flowers, idols, and offerings after the prayer ends? We found the answer — and built a movement around it.

Our Mission

To honour the sanctity of devotional offerings by ensuring they never become pollution. We collect, segregate, and transform puja waste into products that give back to the earth and the communities that serve it.

Our Vision

A India where every river remains as sacred as the prayers offered beside it.

🌿

Reverence

We treat every offering — every flower, every idol — with the same devotion it was given with.

♻️

Responsibility

Waste is not the end of a prayer. It is the beginning of a new purpose.

🤝

Community

We work with temples, households, artisans, and farmers — because healing the earth takes all of us.

🌱

Sustainability

Every process we run is designed to leave the land, water, and air better than we found it.

How It All Started

In 2019, our founder Sumit Gupta watched workers dump truckloads of marigolds, clay idols, and incense ash into the river after a major festival. The river turned grey. The smell was acrid. And yet the offerings had been made with pure devotion just hours before.

That image stayed with him. He spent the next year speaking to priests, waste management experts, artisans, and environmental scientists. The answer was always the same: the problem was real, the solutions existed, but no one had connected the dots.

Visharjan was founded in 2020 to be that connection — between devotion and ecology, between temples and artisans, between the sacred and the sustainable.
